The Adventure Race Japan takes place at the Izu Marriott Hotel in Shuzenji, Izu Peninsula, Japan. Your team will need to make their way to Shuzenji Station where a shuttle bus will transfer you to the Marriott Hotel on Thursday 15th May, between 12:00-15:00.

There are two international airports, and we recommend taking the high-speed train from either one, and then the MtS minibus/coach shuttle or a taxi from Shuzenji Train station.
There are two options from Tokyo Station to Shuzenji Station:
1. Shinkansen
From Tokyo, take a Shinkansen Train either from Tokyo Station or Shinagawa Station to Mishima Station. There are some Super Express trains called Nozomi or Hikari but those trains DO NOT stop at Mishima Station, so please make sure you take a Kodama Express train. It will take about 50 minutes from Tokyo Station to Mishima Station by Kodama.
At Mishima Station, you need to change train from Shinkansen to a local train, after getting out from Shinkansen exit, you will proceed to another exit at South Exit at the station via pass way under the trains, then you will arrive at the end, then turn left and get out from the exit at the ground level. Then turn right and proceed, you need to buy local train ticket there, the name of the local train company is Izu Hakone Tetsudo. Ticket machine will take cash (notes and coins) only and fare from Mishima to Shuzenji is Yen550 and travel time will be around 35-40 minutes. This locals trains are running about every 20 minutes.
2. Odoriko Express (not Shinkansen)
From Tokyo, take a local express train (not Shinkansen) called “Odoriko” Express No. 9, leaving Tokyo station at 12:00 and arriving at Shuzenji at 14:06.
If you take this train, you don’t need to change the train till Shuzenji.
Using Shinkansen, option 1. may be slightly faster to get to Shuzenji depending on train connection at Mishima Station.
From Shuzenji to Tokyo, there are 3 Odoriko trains :
Shuzenji (departure) / Tokyo (arrival)
12:35 / 14:49 Odoriko No. 4
14:18 / 16:30 Odoriko No. 8
15:39 / 17:48 Odoriko No. 10
On your return trip to Tokyo, we assume those Odoriko trains are a bit late for most of you, then you take local train from Shuzenji to Mishima, and take a Shinkansen train (Kodama) back to Tokyo.
On 15th May complementary shuttle buses will run from Shuzenji Station to Marriott Hotel. Buses will run from 12:00/noon every 30 mins until 15:00. Please head to “Shuzenji Station South Exit No. 8 Bus Stop” and look out for the ARJ Shuttle Bus sign.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi at your own expense from Shuzenji Station to the Marriott Hotel, there are normally taxis available at the station. It may take about 20 minutes to the hotel, at around Yen3,000.

On 18th May complementary shuttle buses will run from Marriott Hotel to Shuzenji Station. Buses will run from 07:00 every hour until 11:00. The buses will depart from the Marriott Reception.
